Self Enrichment as Stress Relievers

“Stress reliever” is the word used to refer to stress management substances such as alcohol, drugs and medications. Often, people resort to stress relievers in the face of problems and without realization actually increases their problems. It is one thing to have a few drinks from time to time to relax or otherwise stimulate tired nerves, but quite another when somebody drinks every time stress come knocking. These could have disastrous effects.
Self enrichment is the best recourse under these circumstances. The use of the so called stress relievers opens up the clear and present danger of addiction. Alcohol and drugs cost money, a lot of money. Drugs are more expensive than alcohol although they expose your mind and body to the same hazard.
Prescription drugs in many cases are accompanied by side effects that endanger the mind and body too. These bad forms of stress relievers are more commonly used in today’s society. Its use is convenient, easy and everybody does it. This may not be that obvious but there are plenty of good stress relievers that is available to help us better deal with stress and succeed in our pursuits.
Self enrichment offer stress management relief that does not include use of harmful substances but just the same enhances your ability to handle stress. Take exercise for example. Physical exercise is tested to reduce stress while strengthening the body and keeping it fit. Stress has been known to cause high/low blood pressure, strokes, heart diseases and others. Exercise coupled with healthy diet prevents health risks and leaves you better able to handle stress. A healthy mind and body produces a healthy person overall.
Another self enrichment stress reliever is relaxing by taking deep breaths. This may be further enhanced by stretching. When you feel stress taking control of your body, try taking deep breaths and stretch out when possible. Do it until you feel the tension leaves your body.
Stretch your arms and legs, bend your torso and reach for the floor with your hands. You can also reach for the ceiling with your hand or point to the floor with your toes. Some people go to the extent of including yoga practices in their self enrichment and stress management. This is entirely up to you. Yoga techniques often include meditation, a common stress management and self-enrichment activity.
Other stress management activities include reading books, listening to soothing music, having a massage or engaging in aroma therapy. Educating our mind through books is a tried and tested stress reliever. It leads us to take charge of our lives and deal with stress in a manner that enriches not only the individual but those around him.
