Among the constants we have been given in life is stress. Stress becomes a normal and usual part of life right after the moment of birth and we all must find ways to deal with it, whether it is to our liking or not.
Stress presents itself particularly during periods we are faced with problems and discover no available ways and means to address. People faced with mounting pressure often give in to panic, in effect reacting to stressors.
Each individual has a given ability or skill on how to cope up with this since we as humans have varying levels of understanding and we tend to see things in different light. Two persons may have the same problems but under very different circumstances. Therefore, what might work for one might not necessarily apply to another? Self enrichment works in both instances.
Self enrichment makes it imperative that we have an understanding of ourselves, our strengths and weaknesses, and determine how best we will be able to manage stress. Some view office promotion as a stressful condition and react negatively to the attainment while there are others who make the promotion as a stepping stone to even greater achievements.
When a person is used to being laid back and coasting, and given a promotion that requires greater effort to accomplish tasks, this could cause undue stress and pressure. On the other hand, a self starting and hardworking individual relishes the opportunity to exhibit more of his abilities and therefore will be extremely grateful for the opportunity.
It all boils down to our understanding of life stressors, how we view stress and our judgment of what we as an individual can do to overcome them. If everybody viewed promotion in the same eyepiece, we will all have the same understanding that achievements are a vital component of life and that whenever we accomplish something, expectations increase not only within ourselves but also among other people.
Self enrichment leads to our understanding that to those who are adequately prepared for greater demands welcome challenges not as a threat but a stepping stone to further achievements.
When we observe to do our self enrichment activities, we come to a greater appreciation of the positive effects and influence that threat and challenges bring. This enables us to better cope with stress and stressors.
Threats, whether mild or exaggerated, perceived or real, have the ability to bring out the best or the worst in persons.
Self enrichment skills among individuals broaden horizons to allow us to view threats or difficulties in a manner that is positive and bring out the best in our thinking and decision making, our strengths and abilities, and our thoughts and understanding.
