While the latest technology has automated many tasks in our world today, typical career-oriented individuals are still confounded with the remaining tasks they need to deal with. There remains the burden of juggling family, career and many other factors affecting social life.
Enter the concept of Time Management. As a core part of self enrichment many successful people point to time management as the secret to their success. While this is not entirely an exaggeration, a lot of people remain clueless how time management can lead a person to significant achievement in life.
Time management is central to self enrichment because it is referring to the correct allocation of time for given priorities. In order to have enough time to work on various areas of self improvement, management of time is essential. This same concept is employed in self enrichment where periods of time need to be allocated for study.
This is done by first arranging priorities so they are grouped and listed according to perceived urgency and importance. One must know which one will be dropped in favor of the other in cases of time conflict. After these, you may employ time management tools to help you prioritize, remember and manage the order which you have selected.
A lot of people need to be reminded to take care of important, albeit seemingly small and trivial, tasks and businesses. If you are one of these types, self-enrichment tells us to get some help with reminders. Today’s technology allows the placement of reminders in just about anywhere. There are post-it notes for desks and boards, door magnets for the fridge and kitchen, and chimes and alarms on mobile phones and pagers.
It is important to note here that while these tools are helpful, it is still self enrichment that will guide us to the best and most appropriate use of these technological aids.
Another tool that is available to everyone is the organizer. Organizers hold appointments and provide space for writing notes and remarks, even additional reminders. It also keeps contact numbers of casual people met, presents for a perhaps a less relevant party, and often bits of brilliant ideas that randomly come to mind.
That’s why it should be handy, should fit most handbags, and must be made of durable materials especially the cover to withstand the daily rigors and abuses that it will be subject to. To be an effective tool, you must always have it with you and you must not fail to jot down the important information that should be entered into it.
To complement the organizer, we have the watch. We’ve all had the experience of being late because the watch broke down. And nobody buys our story. A good sense of time is a critical part of time management.
Self enrichment and time management go hand in hand in the quest for success, whether it be success at home, with the family or at work and with our chosen career. There is no better time to begin practicing these than now.
