For many years men in spiritual practices have claimed to be able to heal or cure a sickness with a simple touch upon them.  But in real life, this is not how alternative (Holistic) healing works.  These accusations tend to put a lot of pressure on holistic healing and when it does not work that way, this method ends up with a bad reputation.  It takes much more than a touch of the hand to feel the healing and power of meditation.

What is holistic healing and what does it involve?

Holistic originated from the Greek word holos, meaning “all, entire, or total”. When you use holistic healing as a method for self enrichment, you will be focusing mainly on emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical aspects to make them connect and become whole.  Aristotle’s famous quote “the whole is the sum of its parts” is what spawned this theory. When you look at the various parts of your being, it is only when they are whole that you can see how they behave.

There are different types of holistic healing and a few examples of these include:

Chiropractic Medicine – the act of curing the musculoskeletal system that will then allow the positive energy to flow through the body healing it as a whole.

• Homoeopathy – Channeling the body’s natural ability to heal itself and releasing this power.

• Naturopathic – The state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and focusing on more than just the absence of disease or infirmity.

• Traditional Chinese Medicine – This deals with Chinese herbal therapy, Chinese food therapy, breathing and meditation.

People have been known to think that these theories lack the sufficient evidence to back the claims due to the fact that they do not come from scientific-medical tradition.  But if you have an open mine you will see that alternative medicine provides many benefits including self enrichment.  The great thing about alternative medicine is that it is possible to use these forms while using the traditional methods as well.

Meditation

Self enrichment can be achieved through meditation, which has been a form of alternative medicine that has been practiced for over 5000 years.  Many religious and nonreligious practices have been known to use this form of alternative medicine. When you use meditation you are effectively trying to go past the state of thinking and reach the state of complete relaxation and awareness.

There is a large span of spiritual and psycho physical practices some can use to achieve their life goals including;  an achievement of a higher state of consciousness, creativity, self-awareness, a greater focus, or simply a more relaxed and peaceful mind.
